Michaela Anne tells a story of what too many of us know all too well: how many relationships begin with infatuation and excitement and quickly sour into bitterness and destruction. Through her graceful and effortless lyricism in “Does It Ever Break Your Heart?” the Nashville-based Americana singer-songwriter explores the tension between manipulation and sincerity, addiction and health, and the mind and body. The song is on Michaela’s new album Oh To Be That Free, out June 10.
Producer Aaron Shafer-Haiss brings Michaela’s vision to life through pulsating heartbeat-like drums and growing synths. The single features guest guitarists Anthony da Costa and Juan Solarzano and moving strings and vocal harmonies from Kristin Weber. Their contributions create a push and pull between the beauty of love and chaos that comes with it.
