Tift Merritt joined Andrew Bird on David Letterman last night, playing guitar and harmonizing on a cover of Townes Van Zandt’s “If I Needed You.” Said Letterman of Tift, “If I had any musical ability at all, I would bring her everywhere I went.”  Watch the performance in the player below.
