Michaela Anne has written an essay to accompany her latest single, “If I Wanted Your Opinion.” The essay touches on Anne’s personal experience of the societal pressures that come with being a women, especially within the music industry.

Even though this type of gender experience was the inspiration for her song, the song’s story soon took a new meaning: an anthem for those who feel misunderstood.

 “…We all can feel misunderstood and all desire to be who we are, away from judgement. After all, I do believe, one of our core desires as humans is to be seen for who we are. This song, for me, is an attempt to share that experience with others: men, women, trans, girls, boys and everything in between. Be for yourself.” – Michaela Anne
