Tommy McLain Shares “London Too” Official Video; New Tour Dates Announced

.........................................................

Fresh off the Outlaw Country Cruise, Louisiana swamp pop hero Tommy McLain today shares the official video for “London Too,” the closing track from his critically acclaimed album I Ran Down Every Dream out now on Yep Roc Records:

Produced by Project Zoltar with UK director Dan Macmillian, the video features vintage stock footage of London, its places and people, woven together with McLain’s performance. Of the track, he offers, “Well, we missed Valentine’s Day, but this is our love letter to London – a town that is so dear to my heart, where they’ve kept playing my records through all these years. So many wonderful friends and memories were made there. It is with that trademark British soft-spoken grace, that I humbly dedicate this song and video to Queen Elizabeth.”

Not one to sit idle, McLain will hit the road again March 16, in support of I Ran Down Every Dream with performances during SXSW, including Luck Ranch New Orleans Takeover, and in April at French Quarter Festival and New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. In mid-May, for the first time in his seven-decade career, McLain will embark on an Australian tour, beginning May 17 in Sydney. A complete list of dates follows below.

Upon release, the album garnered features from The New York Times and Rolling Stone while NPR Music observed “If red velvet had a sound, it would be Tommy McLain’s voice…this album is just gorgeous.” Having outlasted three devastating Louisiana hurricanes, a major heart attack, and a house fire, all in recent years, the 13-song “tour de force” (New Orleans Advocate), finds 82-year-old McLain looking back at a remarkable life in music while forging ahead as a true soul survivor.

Four decades in the making, I Ran Down Every Dream features an all-star cast of musicians including GRAMMY-nominated producer CC Adcock alongside Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Van Dyke Parks, Ivan Neville, Augie Meyers, Mickey Raphael, the late Austin guitar legend Denny Freeman and Warren Storm, a fellow swamp pop luminary who can be heard on drums throughout the album. McLain pays homage to Louisiana songwriting legend Bobby Charles on a stunning cover of his song “I Hope.”

Last fall, McLain made his late-night television debut performing the title track from his first album in 40 years on The Late Late Show with James Corden:
